A Note From Erica...

Hi, I'm Erica Poseley and I have spent the last 20 years developing an expertise in the dressage seat and position. I have ridden dressage since 1970 and have always had a nice seat, but as an athletic woman checking in at 5'1" and 100 pounds, I had to get a "doctorate" in advanced seat and position to be effective with any equine bigger than a St. Bernard!

I have studied extensively in Germany including lunge training at von Neindorff's. I have also studied with many top judges, instructors and clinicians throughout the United States, and I have had advanced training in teaching and communication with Mary Wanless. On an ongoing basis, I train with with Sandy Howard, Dietrich von Hoppfgarten, and David Hunt.

My experience also includes apprenticeships with J. Ashton Moore and Elizabeth Searle of Osierlea, studies with Melissa Sims for 18 months, studies with Jennifer Roth, and attendance at many clinics and a 3 week intensive study with the Baron von Blixen-Finecke. When Major Anders Lindgren came to California 2-3 times a year, I got the opportunity to ride with him regularly. I also have clinic experience with Gunter Seidel, Steffan Peters, Andreas Hausberger among others. Through this ongoing commitment to further my education, I can understand the needs of the student and remain a student of the art myself.

My goal is to improve your seat and position to enable you to achieve your riding goals: be they improved communication with your horse in any discipline or winning the Dressage Equitation Medal.

My background as a philosophy graduate (Cum Laude BA from UCLA) has given me the tools to communicate clearly. During lunging and riding lessons, I break down each element that create the correct seat and focus on what your specific needs are at any given time. I also teach clinics troughout the West Coast, and I give consultations focused on upgrading a rider's seat and dressage riding position. Students are consistently amazed at how much I can change in a short time through increasing their awareness of the correct goal and body control!

Some riders are apprehensive about lunging or have a horse who isn't reliable on the lunge - my techniques work well on and off the lunge.

My background in martial arts, tennis, skiing, and a lifetime of riding gives me a deep understanding of the many ways to learn and communicate to riders. I take your learning seriously and will do everything I can to help you achieve your goal.

My own riding is always under development - this is truly an art that takes a lifetime. Currently, I am working with a young horse who is working 3rd/4th level, and I also have several more advanced horses in training. I have competed horses I have trained through all of the US national levels.

My lifetime with horses includes showing horses in hand, jumping, eventing, dressage and teaching all ages. I hold my USDF Bronze medal.
